This comic was created to fulfill some of the potential I felt that Saffron had not lived up to. For instance, I wanted a story that was more historically grounded in Persia, with more period- accurate outfits and set design. I wanted more poetic prose in the dialogue to level up the writing. I also pushed my artistic strengths further: I went for vivid colors, elaborate compositions, and persianate designs. The result was the Safavid Weaver. This comic is special to me because I have never seen a historical fiction story (graphic novel or otherwise) set in the Safavid period. The era is known as the pinnacle of rug weaving, so I knew I wanted Parsa and Navid's story to be set there.
